Shannon Ashley Garcia Mitchell was born on April 10th, 1987, in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Her father, Mark Mitchell, was of Scottish and Irish ancestry, while her mother, Precious Garcia, was of Filipino ancestry. Mitchell has a younger brother named Sean Mitchell among her siblings. Shay began her career at the age of five when she enrolled in dancing courses and competed in various dance competitions.
